VOLUNTEERS needed for two upcoming student events

Dayton Regional STEM School is looking for more volunteers to assist students in learning more about careers and also refining their research and presentation skills.

Two upcoming events:

SEEKING Medical professionals or Research scientists:
Wednesday, February 12  and  Thursday, February 13
10:00a – 2:30p.   (Any amount of time you can assist is appreciated.)

10th Grade Biology students are looking for medical professionals and/or research scientists to evaluate their mock patient presentations.

In a recent project, each student was challenged to diagnose a fictitious patient with a genetic disease and propose a novel treatment for the patient.  Students will present their patients for a panel of medical professionals and will be evaluated on their diagnosis, treatment plan, and presentation skills.  If you work in the medical field or are involved in medical research and would like to serve on this panel for this exciting presentation, please e-mail Biology instructor, Kate Cook Whitt (kate.cook@wright.edu).

Exhibitors NEEDED at the Career Fair:

Thursday, March 6   9:30a – 1:00p

What is the STEM Career Fair?
The Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Career Fair is a chance for middle and high school students to explore careers in various areas. Students are encouraged to learn about the wide opportunities in many careers, including educational pathways that may lead to STEM careers. Presenters at the Fair are encouraged to share experiences in their respective field, give students an idea of what type of work is done in their particular field, how they became interested in STEM career, and what sort of training/education was necessary in order to be qualified for their job. Participants are also encouraged to bring any equipment, tools, presentation materials, etc. that may help in communicating with students.

Interested in presenting at DRSS 2014 STEM Career Fair?
We are always looking for more participants for our STEM Career Fair and would like a variety of career choices available for students review.    If you have questions and/or are interested in presenting, please contact Christine Yeary at christine.yeary@wright.edu
