This is a reminder that 9th Grade Students will be doing their first Job Shadowing on Thursday, October 24, 2013. Instead of coming to school on that day, all 9th grade students will be going to a Job Shadowing site and will have an associated assignment to complete.
While the Dayton Regional STEM School works with our partners to arrange some Job Shadowing options for students, you are absolutely allowed - and encouraged - to arrange a Job Shadowing opportunity for your student on your own. This can be with your own place of employment, or that of family, friends or neighbors. If you are making your own Job Shadowing arrangement, we need you to complete and return the attached form so that we will know where your student is going on October 24th.
We will also have a unique opportunity this year for our 9th grade students to complete their Job Shadow at Kindred Hospital's first health care career fair on Wednesday, October 23 from 8:30-11:30am at Kindred Hospital. Students choosing this option will need to be dropped at Kindred by parents in the morning - a bus will transport students back to the Dayton Regional STEM School once the fair is over for lunch and regular afternoon classes - students will NOT have an additional job shadow on October 24, but will use their Kindred visit to complete the Job Shadowing assignment. More information to come on this option.
Sign-ups for Job Shadowing will be taking place the week of October 14th - watch for more details to come. In the meantime, please return your self selection form ASAP once you have something planned for your student. Let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for your participation in this important aspect of our students' career exploration activities.
