DAYTON - Six teams from the DRSS Chapter of the Dayton Junior Council on World Affairs participated in the annual Quiz Bowl competition again this year, which took place at the University of Dayton's Kennedy Union. One DRSS team placed third overall - just below the first and second place teams.

Lauren Drewing, Joel Baker, Alan Johnson, and Marc Ayala placed third with a score of 63 points. |
Competition was fierce, and the DRSS team came just shy of making it into the tie-breaker round between the two teams from Chaminade-Julienne and Lebanon, both of whom finished just one point ahead of them. In the end, the DRSS team earned a final score of 63 out of 100 points possible. The students on the third place team were Lauren Drewing, Joel Baker, Alan Johnson, and Marc Ayala.
As an indication of the difficulty of these questions, four Wright State University political science professors competed against the students and earned a 74 out of 100. Drs. Vaughn Shannon, Liam Anderson, Carlos Costa, and Lee Hannah came to represent Wright State and talk with the students about the field of political science.

While the team was disappointed not to be able to travel to Washington DC
for a third year in a row, the students and their advisors, Kevin Lydy, Pablo Nuñez, and Arch Grieve, were proud of their performance.
In the end, first place went to the team from Chaminade-Julienne, while second place went to the team from Lebanon.
