DRSS had a team represented at the 2014 MATHCOUNTS Dayton regional competition at UD last weekend.
The team of one 6th grader and three 7th graders represented DRSS at this competition which strives to engage middle school students of all ability and interest levels in fun, challenging math programs in order to expand their academic opportunities.
Congratulations to the team and thank you for representing DRSS at the competition.

Today students in Mr. Grieve's Economics class visited the Wright State University Raj Soin Trade Room.
The 25 high school juniors were invited by Dr. Li, Dean of the College of Business, to learn about careers in business and finance and see the state-of-the-art trade room. Students were able to see the Bloomberg Launchpad program as well.
Students enjoyed a tour of the campus and lunch. DRSS appreciates the continued support from our parent university for allowing our students to see real-world applications and learn about future careers.
During the month of March, Wright State University will be hosting a display of posters created by 10th grade students as part of their recent study of conflicts and genocides. The posters will be displayed at the Charles & Renate Frydman Educational Resource Center (ERC), 116 Allyn Hall on the campus of Wright State University.
The unit is a collaboration between World History teacher Arch Grieve and Language Arts teacher Jenn Reid, who are in their fourth year doing this project. This year, we anticipate having 43 pieces of artwork on display. The twist the students wish to add this year is an auction of their artwork, with the proceeds going to UNICEF. Their goal is to help alleviate the problems caused by conflict and genocide through raising money for an organization that helps people affected by it.
"Destruction in Disguise" by Kailani Sparrow, one of the many works of art that will be up for auction
We are planning a reception and art auction to be held on Tuesday, March 11th, from 5:00pm-6:00pm, at which many of the student artists will be present. We hope you can join us! There will be light snacks and some of the artists will be present. To find out more about the unit, check out the project page on the STEM School website, and check out the video below!
Due to last night's freezing rain and strong winds, many of the roads our students normally travel over are covered in ice. For this reason, almost all of our students' districts of residence have called a two hour delay. In order ensure the safety of our students, today will be an E-day at the DRSS.
